ZIbra Perfume Closet was founded by Zakkiyya Ibrahim—not as a fragrance expert, but as someone completely new to the world of perfume who discovered a genuine love for scent through everyday life.
The journey began on a simple girls’ day out with her daughters. A visit to a local beauty store turned into an unexpected moment of discovery. One spray sparked curiosity, curiosity turned into fascination, and fascination grew into a deep appreciation for fragrance as a form of expression, memory, and confidence.
What didn’t spark joy, however, were the prices.
As a proud member of the frugal community, spending hundreds of dollars on a single bottle never felt practical. Discovering dupe and “inspired by” fragrances—scents that captured the essence of luxury perfumes at a fraction of the cost—felt like finding a hidden treasure. It was exciting, empowering, and accessible.
But that discovery came with a challenge.
The Problem That Needed Solving
In the Portland Metro Area, there were very few places—if any—where people could smell inspired-by fragrances before buying. Blind buying became the norm.
And while $25–$40 per bottle sounds affordable, buying three or four fragrances you don’t end up liking adds up quickly. What was supposed to be a budget-friendly alternative often turned into wasted money, clutter, and disappointment.
That frustration planted the seed for something better.
Why It’s Called ZIbra Perfume Closet
As Zakkiyya’s fragrance journey continued, her collection began to grow—and so did its presence in her home. Her bedroom closet slowly transformed from holding clothes and shoes into a space almost entirely dedicated to perfume.
Before long, friends and family stopped asking to see outfits and started asking to visit the Perfume Closet.
Sampling scents, sharing reactions, and discovering favorites together became part of the experience. The closet became a place of connection, laughter, and exploration—not exclusivity or pressure.
That personal, welcoming experience inspired the name ZIbra Perfume Closet.
This brand is designed to feel exactly like that moment: stepping into someone’s home, being invited to smell freely, learn comfortably, and enjoy fragrance without judgment.
